Welcome to Strio. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Strio mobile application and website (https://strio.app), how we use it, and what rights you have. Strio is operated by Lenni Karvonen, who acts as the data controller for the purposes of applicable privacy law.

1. Information We Collect

1a. Information you provide directly

Photos and videos — you voluntarily select or share media to identify garments. We process these media to provide the identification service and do not store them permanently beyond what is required to deliver your result.
Account information — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and, depending on your settings, your name and email address, solely for the purpose of managing your account.
Contact information — if you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message.

1b. Information collected automatically

Usage data — we may collect information about how you interact with the app (e.g. features used, session duration, crash reports) to improve the service.
Device information — device model, operating system version, and app version, used for debugging and compatibility.
IP address — collected automatically by our servers for security and fraud prevention.

1c. Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect your precise location.
We do not access your contacts or camera roll beyond the photos and videos you explicitly choose to share with Strio.
We do not sell your personal data.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the garment identification service.
To respond to your support requests.
To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
To comply with legal obligations.
To send you important service-related communications (not marketing, unless you opt in).

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Strio. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements and is bound by its own privacy policy.

Apple App Store — distribution and in-app purchases. See Apple Privacy Policy.
Sign in with Apple / Google— authentication. The respective provider's privacy policy governs data shared during sign-in.
Cloud Hosting & Data Storage — we rely on reputable cloud infrastructure providers to host our servers and store data securely. These providers process data solely on our instructions and are contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
AI Processing / Image Recognition — garment identification is powered by third-party AI services. Photos or videos you submit are transmitted to these services solely to perform the identification and are not retained by them beyond what is necessary to deliver the result. Your media is never used to train AI models, neither by us nor by our processing partners.
Analytics & Crash Reporting — we use third-party tools to understand app performance and diagnose technical issues. These services receive anonymised usage and device data as described in Section 1b. We do not share personally identifiable information with analytics providers.

4. International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services we use may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place — such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission — so that your data receives a level of protection equivalent to that required under GDPR.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Uploaded photos and videos are deleted from our servers within 24 hours of processing. Account information is retained for as long as your account is active and deleted promptly upon account deletion. Usage analytics may be retained in aggregated, anonymised form indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction or deletion of your data.
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (EU/EEA users).

7. Children's Privacy

Strio is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (TLS encryption in transit, secure storage at rest) to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through the app. Your continued use of Strio after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
